A hotel for photographers

A new Sydney, Australia hotel is waaay into Instagram. While the 1888 Hotel is technically housed in a building that was erected in 1888, that is also the magical year when Kodak introduced its box camera. Fate stepped in and thus declared that this hotel should be photo-centric. In 2013, that means Instagram. So the latest amenities?

  • A selfie area. In the lobby, a beautiful, empty frame with an engraved 1888 nameplate is suspended from the ceiling to encourage guests to snap themselves. The backdrop is the Eatery & Bar and the atrium with an indoor tree.
  • Instagramers with over 10,000 followers get a free night’s stay.

Those are nice amenities. Me, I just like that the 1888 is in an old wool storage building. Cozy. See the hotel for yourself. Or check out its Instagram.
